TalentHR lets you effortlessly manage performance reviews for your organization. You can edit your performance review questions as well as add one or more review cycles, according to the needs of your organization.
All performance review cycles share the same default set of 4 questions for your employees and their managers. However, you can create and use custom questions for specific review cycles, on top of the 4 default questions, to gather additional information from your people, in a more targeted manner.
To add a review cycle:
1. Navigate to Settings, go to Performance and make sure the Review cycles (1) tab is selected.
2. Click Add review cycle (2).
3. Type a name (3) for your review cycle.
4. Select the date (4) you wish the review cycle to start for your employees and their managers.
5. Choose a duration (5) for the review cycle. Employees and managers will need to complete their reviews within the specified time frame. The available options are 5 days, 15 days and 1 month.
6. Under Additional questions, optionally select one or more custom questions (6) for your review cycle.
Note: Click the Add button to create a new custom question from this page. Read the rest of this guide for more information on custom questions, specifically this section. |
7. Set the recurrence (7) for this review cycle. The available options are: every month, every 3 months, every 6 months, and every 12 months.
8. Select which employees need to complete the review cycle in question (8). Choose All employees, or filter by location, division, department, job title and/or employment status, or even select a specific employee that this review cycle will apply to.
When you’ve created one or more review cycles, you can deactivate (1), edit, or delete them (2) at any time from the Review cycles tab.
Note: Review cycles open at 00:01. Email notifications to employees and managers are sent approximately at 07:00, according to the time zone setting of your portal. |
Review questions
Performance review questions are intended to assess the value and engagement of employees, as well as how valued the employees feel and how they could improve, or be more engaged.
By default, performance reviews have 4 questions for managers and employees. In this context, the first question in the review is meant to assess value, while the second question pertains to the employee's engagement.
The third and fourth questions are intended to be utilized more freely, as the system does not report on them on a company-wide scale but only at the employee level.
In addition to these 4 questions, you’re able to add more custom questions for managers and employees, to gain insights tailored to your organization's unique needs.
To edit the performance review questions:
1. Navigate to Settings, go to Performance and click the Review questions (1) tab.
2. Employee questions and Manager questions are grouped accordingly. Click the pencil icon (2) next to any question to edit it.
3. Edit the title of the target question (3). If the selected question is multiple choice, you can also edit the available answers (4). Use placeholder {Company} for your company's name and {Name} for the employee's name. On the user’s end, the placeholders will be populated by the corresponding values for each employee.
4. Don't forget to Save your changes.
About additional custom questions
You’re able to add more questions to your performance reviews under Review questions, to gather additional information from your employees and/or their managers.
There are three different sections to add custom questions to:
- Visible to the employee: The question is part of the employee's review. The responses are shared with the manager after the employee submits their review.
- Visible to manager: The question is asked in the manager's review. The employee will not be able to see the responses, even after their manager submits their review.
- Visible to employee & manager: The question is asked to the manager. The responses are shared with the employee after their manager submits their review.
To create a new custom question:
1. Under the Additional questions section of your choice, click Add (1) to create a new question.
2. Type your question in the title field (2).
3. Select the type of your question (3). The options are: text, long text, single choice, multiple choice, link.
4. Click Save (4) to save your new question.
Existing custom questions can be activated or deactivated at any time from this page. Just enable or disable the Active toggle (5).
If a custom question is disabled, it won’t show up in the list of available custom questions when you're creating or editing a review cycle.
To edit or delete a custom question, click the pencil icon or the bin icon next to it (6), as needed.
