Four types of time off are available on TalentHR by default:
- Vacation
- Sick leave
- WFH
- Bereavement
Edit the names and budgets of any type of time off, or deactivate them. You’re also able to configure any type of time off so that, when an employee books time off for that type:
- The request is approved automatically, or it requires manual review.
- Other types of time off are blocked for the requester, for the same time period.
- The type is hidden on the calendar and instead shows up as “Vacation” for privacy.
To edit the available types of time off:
1. Go to Settings and select Time off.
2. Under the Types tab (1), toggle between Active or Inactive (2) for any type of time off.
3. Click the pencil icon (3) next to a type of time off to edit it.
4. Change the name of the time off type, as well as its allotted days, as necessary (4). Time off budgets can be allotted in decimal formats too. The lowest fraction the system will accept is 0.001 days.
5. Toggle the Needs approval option (5) depending on if you wish employees’ requests for this type of time off to be automatically approved or not. If you disable this option, the time off request will need to be approved by the employee’s manager or assigned approver(s), if there are any.
6. Toggle the Display time off type option (6) as needed. Enable it if you wish the time off type to be shown on the calendar when an employee has booked time off for that type, or disable it if you wish to hide the time off type from the calendar, for privacy reasons. If it’s disabled, then booked time off for that type will simply show up as “Vacation”.
7. Toggle the Block other time off option (7) as needed. If it’s enabled, when an employee books time off of that type, they won’t be able to book other types of time off for the same period.
8. Click Save.
You may also create new types of time off as described here.
